CORE - Electronic Tech - Installation (security)

We are currently seeking an experienced Electronic Technician with experience in Security.


Position Title: Electronic Technician - Security

Location: Mississauga

Salary: $20-$25/hour dependant upon experience plus car allowance (must have own car)


The Electronic Security Technician must have a clear understanding and working knowledge of various security product lines.

Responsibilities & Duties

The Electronic Technician is specifically responsible for the installation, service and trouble-shooting of

• Intrusion detection systems (IDS)
• Closed-circuit television (CCTV) products
• Card access / control identification products
• Locking and safe mechanisms
• Integrated electronic security systems (IESS)
• Other miscellaneous security products

Principal duties include

• Install, wire and trouble shoot hardware used in systems
• Test equipment and wiring after completion of work to ensure performance
• Perform programming of systems on customers network
• Assists experienced personnel in developing and implementing solutions to meet client needs
• Train and supervise junior staff in ensuring program requirements achieved
• Supervises sub-contractors and trades as appropriate by the job
• Provides client training on site
• Participates in bid proposal site visits as required
• Communicates with client upon arrival and before leaving work site
• Ensures proactive customer interaction including an in-depth understanding of client needs, wants and systems currently in place
• Assists in monitoring project execution per plan and reports problems or changes to project manager
• Completes paperwork and on-site documentation as required
• Performs self-study (reading, research and practice) and participates in internal and external training programs to obtain technical proficiency on required products and application
• Maintains appropriate local and national industry certifications
• Adheres to local and national safety standards and codes with a high degree of regard to employee, subcontractor and client safety
• Performs other duties as assigned

Skills and Requirements

• 1 to 3 years experience in security industry working with alarm panels, card access, intrusion detection and closed-circuit television systems
• College or university certificate or diploma with focus in electronics, security or computer systems
• General knowledge of electronics, components and construction
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a short period of time
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Desire to ensure client satisfaction at all times
• Able to work independently or as part of a team
• Have own vehicle or access to a vehicle on a regular basis
• Have and continue to carry a valid provincial driver's license
• Have and continue to carry valid motor vehicle insurance
• Able to pass a background check to include criminal, driving and / or credit
• Able to obtain a minimum of Enhanced Reliability Status from Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC)
• Able to participate in on-call rotation schedule (24 hours a day, 7 days per week) of a 2 week duration
